Our present methods of production, consumption and disposal are destroying our global life-support system. The search for alternatives, more eco-friendly materials such as paper in applications like packaging is increasing. Whether paper is better than plastic is a complex issue but one thing for certain is that paper unlike most plastics, is derived from a renewable feedstock. Considering the mass produced nature of coffee lids and that the current solution is inert to degradation, the purpose of this project was simply to replace the petroleum-based coffee lid with a new version in paper. Bambu is a new take-away coffee lid made from a uniquely durable and stretchable paper material. It isn’t just some smoke and mirrors, it is real and it works.
A project initiated by EFG, leading manufacturer of office furnitures in northern Europe. Our mission was to design an innovative personal workspace according to the Cradle to Cradle principles. Designed in an eco-effective way while focusing on single material parts with different life cycles, EFG Gaia is geared towards creative people and can be adapted depending on need and taste. Three prototypes of EFG Gaia were presented in 2012 at the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, as well at the Clerkenwell Design Week in London.
A number of projects that I’ve been working on in recent years, they represent a mixture of student work, individual projects and creations done by my personal design firm that I started in 2010. Note that these are highly summarized and do not include any step or explanation of the design process but more or less they show a glimpse of what I’ve been doing lately.
